Cubans at the immigration detention centre threaten to burn it to the
ground. The drama unfolded just after 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning when
one of the migrants jumped the fence, but was chased and captured by a
prison guard.
Another climbed onto the roof armed with large rocks. Fire officers and
police were then called to the scene when they said they were going to
set the place alight.

Four Cubans have been arrested for threatening violence and disorderly
conduct.

Premier Hon. Alden McLaughlin said, "tensions have been rising for some
time now, this is largely due to the wait times for the migrants to be
repatriated back to Cuba and the uncertainty of when this will occur."

"We want to work with Cuba to fix this situation going forward, " Mr.
McLaughlin added.

The Memorandum of Understanding with Cuba states that migrants are to be
repatriated within three weeks, at the moment it is taking up to three
months.
