The construction of the Gibara II wind farm, made with Chinese
technology, in the eastern province of Holguin, entered the phase of
electrical interconnection between four of the six wind turbines, said
Saturday Orlando Leyva Lopez, chief investor.

The wind farm has six machines of the type Goldwind S-50, each of which
can produce 750 kilowatts and 4.5 megawatts.

Leyva Lopez added that it is being worked also in the casting of the
concrete bases of the two remaining wind turbines.

Gibara II wind farm stands near the lighthouse at Punta Rosa, 1.5 mile
from the city of Gibara, Holguin province, 350 miles east of Havana.

Cuba has three wind farms -- the largest one is Gibara I built in 2008
with 5.1 megawatts of capacity. The other two wind farms are located in
the Isle of Youth, south-western Cuba, and in Turiguano in the central
province of Ciego de Avila.
