National Assembly for the first time in four years on Saturday.
Castro, who is 83, turned over power to his younger brother Raul, 79, in
2006, after suffering a severe stomach ailment.
According to Cuban state media, he wants the National Assembly convened
so he can explain information he has gathered on the international
situation, specifically an imminent nuclear war involving the United
States, Israel and Iran.
The brief official statement Fidel Castro has recently increased his
public appearances, usually wearing his traditional olive green shirt.
Castro is still in the powerful position of first secretary of the
Communist Party
