The U.S. Coast Guard returned 28 Cuban migrants to Cuba Friday, after
intercepting two rustic boats headed for Florida earlier in the week.
On Tuesday, a Coast Guard aircraft spotted a boat carrying seven
migrants near Elboy Cay, Bahamas. Coast Guard Cutter Nantucket picked up
the boat's occupants.
On Wednesday, a bystander called the Coast Guard in Key West after
coming across a boat carrying 23 Cuban migrants about 11 miles south of
Boca Chica. The boat's occupants were also taken aboard the Nantucket.
All but two of the migrants were sent to Bahia de Cabanas, Cuba Friday.
The two remaining migrants, from Tuesday's encounter, are still awaiting
disposition on another Coast Guard vessel.
