After being trapped in Cuba for three-and-half months following a car
accident, Cody LeCompte was finally given the all clear Thursday by
authorities in the communist country to return home to Canada. The
Simcoe teen, his mother Danette, and his uncle, Gary Parmenter, have a
long day ahead, one the anxious family hopes will be free of hiccups.

The Sun's Chris Doucette was with the family in Cuba as their ordeal
came to an end. Here is ongoing correspondence between the family and
Doucette as the LeComptes make their way back home. Check back for updates:

11:35 a.m.: "We've boarded the bus for the 2 hour drive to the airport.
So happy to be leaving. Apprehensive as to what will happen at airport."
— Gary Parmenter

10:52 a.m.: "Just saying goodbye to all the staff. The bus is picking us
up in 10 minutes to take us to the airport. Can't wait to get home to
Canada." — Cody LeCompte

9;59 a.m.: "Well I've been to the front desk. Confirmed Flight.
Confirmed airport transfer all good to go. Nothing can go wrong now. I
hope. — Gary Parmenter

9:51 a.m.: "Ola chris! Cody is finishing up on his packing as he has
three months worth. He said it's like moving from an apartment. Gary and
I just finished a quick breakfast of toast. I am getting so excited to
get on our way." — Danette LeCompte

8:51 a.m.: "Well I was up at 6am for a press interview with Canada AM
then back to bed to bed. Its 0823 and a bright sunny day time to shower
and get the rest of the crew mobile. It seams a little surreal. We are
actually going home." — Gary Parmenter"
